Mobile Isolation Chambers vs. Clean Rooms and Hoods:

When recent economic comparisons have been done from Pharmacy Assessment sheets provided by Pharmacists, the out come has been consistent. Mobile Isolation Chambers have been approximately 60% to 70% less capital cost than a properly designed Clean Room. These estimates have been proven true on two publicly owned Hospitals where public and open bidding was required.

When the operating costs have been compared, cost saving from using a Mobile Isolation Chamber grow to staggering proportions. The operating savings achieved by using Mobile Isolation Chambers rather than a hoods in a Clean Room is in the 80% to 90% range. Many factors contribute to these large saving. Some of these factors are: MIC's can be turned off when not in use and brought back into service very quickly therefore using less energy; MIC's do not require all of the protective disposable clothing used in a Clean Room; and efficiency has been documented to be higher in the MIC workstations (and protocol violations will be lessened).

The MIC workstations cost 85% less to operate!!!
